Jan. 17 – 19 – Georgia Council of Supervisors of Mathematics Winter Conference, Jekyll Island, GA

Closing Keynote Speaker, Jan. 19

Title: The Magic of Mathematics: The Intersection of Skills and Attitudes

Description: Students’ attitudes and dispositions about mathematics impact their performance in our math classrooms. How do we help teachers identify and embrace instructional strategies that both deepen students’ understanding of mathematics and nurture confidence, curiosity, risk-taking, perseverance, and belonging? In this session, we explore the intersection of the teaching of math skills and the nurturing of positive attitudes to bring magic to our math classrooms! We explore ways to foster positive attitudes through a variety of teaching decisions. A wealth of resources will be shared to bring back to schools and districts.
